[R129 SL] Noisy Top Release

Don't know if it's normal, but it's the same on my car.  Very
loud cracks; sounds very similar when you put it back on.  

BTW, I just rigged-up a tackle and pulley system to hoist the
hard top in my garage.  Check-in with me at the end of summer to
see whether it's held up...
