One way to prevent tetanus in lambs is to vaccinate the mothers 30-60
days before lambing with a tetni containing vaccine. CD&T, or better
still a multi-clostridial vaccine such as Covexin 8 or Calvery 9 all
will promote antibodies against tetanus in the mother's colostrum. If
the lamb gets colostrum, it should be protected from tetanus for at
least 60 days. Then banding lambs within the first week of life is
possible without worrying about tetanus. =20
