Well.. Update not is what I hoped.. Missed making Market weight... DARN IT.... by 3 pounds with the bigger lamb! The Weighmaster TRIED so hard to get the scale to swing in our favor.... but couldnt do it!
So The little gal will be showing as feeder lambs all 3 lambs.. the 82 lb lamb and both lighter lambs (74 & 78 lbs)
Im pretty certain that they will show with the other breeds.. that should be... INTERESTING.....
What i find curious.. is that even at 75-80 lbs.... Sheared off.. these lambs are NOWHERE near finished.. they are pretty green with no fat cover yet.. they are STILL growing!
This has been a fun process to over see as an Extension agent. and even moreso as a Jacob lover!
The Jacobs, dont want to brace up like the traditional meat breeds, but get by well enough. Obviously,,, height wise, they are WAY behind... But that is to be expected!
Im curious to see how long it takes to finish them. All of them will be coming home and going on a all hay ration for a little while to cool them off the grain we were pushing them with... We will finish them out with the other lambs not on the market lamb protocol, and butcher in Nov-Dec like we typically do.
I will get some photos of them in the ring tomarrow!
