I have been spinning for 16 years and am a member of a spinning guild.
I highly recommend a beginner consider a Louet wheel. They are sturdy
uncomplicated wheels. They don't have the traditional look as they are
made in Holland, but they are the easiest to learn on. The lower end
line is just as good as the upper end wheels that have double treadles,
different aesthetic designs, etc. If you become an avid spinner, you
could trade up to a fancier looking wheel but would find the the Louet
is still just as good for spinning and plying.

my 2 cents.
