Darn the luck! Got a perfectly marked ewe, just a doll... But I noticed
that every time I picked her up, her backside was wet.....Id seen her pee
normally, squatting.. But she was always soaked!

Went to the vet yesterday, when she was 3 days old. Vet says likely a bad
plumbing job,... Ectopic Uteter.. Basically one of her kidneys is normally
routed.. the other ureter is too long, and instead of dumping into the bladder,
dumps into the urinary tract.

We dont know this for certain, as it COULD be a mis functioning aspect
somewhere else.

She said that it would be a good thing to look into my breed, to see if this
is a known problem, as it is in some dog breeds. And that it could be
genetic fault, but could also be a freak birth defect with no way of telling
which one.

Her twin sister urinates normally and has no incontinence issues.

SO, What I am asking, is if any of you have ever had this occur in your
lambs? The vet said if I get a response from others that, yes , they have had
lambs like this.. I'm probably looking at a potential genetic issue that is
passed on some lines.... Where as if this is pretty much unheard of, it is
likely a birth defect, and something just didn't come together right while she was
developing.

This will make a big impact on wether we keep her twin, and her mother as
breeding animals, or not.

Unfortunately, if she is indeed a Ectopic Ureter, the lamb is probably going
to be a locker lamb.

At this point, we shaved her hind end, and are keeping her slathered in
Desitin to prevent urine scald.

Sure hoping this is a sphincter issue and not Ectopic Ureter.

Curious of any insight you may have.
