September 04th to 09th , 2009
Esteio - Gramado / Rio Grande do Sul / Brazil

The state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, will home the 7th World Congress on
Coloured Sheep during the 4th to 9th of September 2009. The Congress last
edition took place at Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2004. The Brazilian
Karakul Sheep Breeders Association, present at that last event, succeeded in
bringing this new edition to Brazil, supported by other two Brazilian Sheep
Breeder Associations, the "Crioulos" and the Border Leicester.
The opening of the 7th World Congress on Coloured Sheep will be very
attractive as it will take place at the International Fair - "EXPOINTER
2009"- nearby the state capital, the biggest agribusiness show of the south
of Brazil, where the participants will have the opportunity to appreciate
the best of sheep as well as other Brazilian livestock genetics, and farm
machinery. At this event the participants may take part in the wool
workshops and handcraft contest, and assist the woollen outfits fashion
show. The Congress will continue at the state hilly country, called "Serra
Gaúcha" , at the touristic Gramado and Canela counties, where some farms
will be visited, and a farm day will take place. Workshops on History of
sheep, Genetics and Preservation, Breeds, Animal Health and Production,
Sheep Products (wool, fibre and skin), Marketing and Business and Handcraft
techniques will be in the program.
Tourism pre and post event also it will be offered to the participants and
their companions, as Rio Grande do Sul is the southernmost state of Brazil,
having its own beautiful places, bordering the Brazilian state of Santa
Catarina, famous by its beaches, and also having an international border
with Uruguay and Argentina.
English will be the official language with simultaneous translation into
Portuguese.
