Oh yes, your sheep are normal.........as Neal said, Jacob sheep skipped "Sheep Behavior 101"!!! Actually, to my way of thinking, the quiet sheep are the "not normal" ones!!! We have a ewe here named Persimmon who is a big pet and consequently quite a talker -- she makes so much noise when I am with the sheep it becomes annoying. When I give her attention she insists on wanting to bite either my diamond ring or my watch......and when I move my hand/wrist out of her reach she becomes annoyed and starts gently butting with her horns -- she gets her nose snapped for that behavior! She is quite a complainer regarding food - I don't feed fast enough, I don't give enough, everyone else is hogging the trough, yada, yada, yada........ She even talks when she is chewing, resulting in a sound almost akin to human speech!!!

Enjoy your conversations with your sheep..........it's all part of the beauty of this breed.

In a number of books that I've read, it says that sheep are quiet animals, only making noise when there is a problem like hunger. However, mine make noise a lot, especially when they see me. They are all in good condition, have an open barn for shelter, fresh water, good food and the run of 10 acres. Is this normal??
