Shepherds:
Thanks for the feedback. As always at our place, disaster always seems to
strike the nicest sheep.
My quick search for information was not terribly encouraging. The worm is
passed thru deer to snails, and then the sheep ingest the snails when they
graze. Happens when weather is warm and wet mostly. Most articles say that
wormers are the best approach, but no research supports their effectiveness. The
worm locates in the central nervous system, which wormers can't reach. We're
going to de-worm the entire flock anyway. And try to work with Nola's back legs
to keep the muscles from atrophy. Then it's just a waiting game I think.
She's a strong girl, so I'm hoping she'll pull through.
Anyone see anything I've missed? Any magic potions out there?
Kathey
