Hello from the Red Dragon Farm,
Sorry to say no jacob babies yet, but lots of other lambs about 15 born so far on our lil Kentucky farm.

I think that's the law of gravity. :)

That's more than likely the explanation, but I swear I hear my ewes chuckling whenever I make a rapid, uncontrolled descent to the bottom of the hill :-)

Another lesson you will soon learn if your snow doesn't melt away quickly---if you walk in the same tracks every time and make a nice little path, soon the nice little path becomes a skating rink and you can do your aerobics on your way to and from the barn, waving your arms to keep your balance. then you are very glad for the 14" of snow on either side of the path, because when the aerobics don't work you have a softer place to fall.

Hi folks,
Just curious what grain mixtures or recipe you use when/if you grain your sheep?

I don't grain at all in the summer when they are on good pasture, but occasionally if it is a very cold winter and/or the hay I have isn't really what I had expected, I will supplement with some grain over the cold months. I just use a dry COB, and it seems to do the trick very well.

Does anyone else have lambs yet?
We arrived home Friday evening to find a brand new, still damp, little
guy standing with his mother at the gate (feeding time)!
We had many concerns on this particular little one's arrival so are very
happy and relieved that all seems to be going well for him and his mom!
Nice little four horned ram to start the lambing season!
This is the earliest we have ever had a lamb born here. It will
probably be six weeks before we have any more, but then there will be a
flurry of activity, with many of our 15 bred ewes expected to deliver in
the month of March. We have time to enjoy this solo baby now, but know
he will be glad when the playmates arrive!

No lambs here yet--but I'm getting antsy for all those little spots to start popping out! My girls will start lambing at the end of March. I only have 8 ewes this year, two will be first-timers. I am using a new ram, too, so I'm really anxious to see the lambs.
