If one can set aside Medelian complete doinance and the omnipresent
"splitting gene", consider incomplete penetrance, limited multiple alleles or
pleitropy (split eyelids and multiple horns). The results of F1 and f2 offspring seem
to suggest one of the later mechanisms. Perhaps the proof is replicating the
work done on CH10, the sheep horn locus, comparing the chromosomes and
messenger rna. The question is 100 years old and someone may take it up as a master
or doctoral project.
