Here in N. Ca. the males started becoming competitive
in mid-Aug. So we moved the girls to a different area
which is out of sight and smell to protect the fences.
The wethers are on the other side of the fence from
the ram and they are going at each other through the
fence. We will put the girls in with the ram in
mid-Sept. so we do not get lambs in the first of the
rainy season. We like them to arrive when we have
good grass. When the girls are in with the ram then
the wethers will go to where the girls are now so he
does not think he has competition. The wethers were
ok in with the ram till mid-Aug. As to temp. we are
having 90-100s in the days but we are finally
beginning to cool off pretty well in the evenings,
like about 60-70 if that helps your records.
