We've been shearing here in southeast PA.......on Monday we sheared a
yearling ewe, thin but not in poor condition and pregnant. I noticed
today she is shivering.....it's in the 40's and low 50's and rainy here
presently, although we've already had some days in the high 60's this
spring. She has plenty of barn space to get out of the
elements......and she ate normally this morning. Should I be concerned?
Those of you who shear in cold weather - do you notice shivering? Is it
normal? Do they become acclimated after a few days? Am I being an
overprotective mother? ;-) In previous years we always sheared
later, usually in May........and sometimes we were concerned because of
the stress of hot weather........seems like we can't get it right! Let
me know your thoughts.
