Our experience is the same as Cathy Robinson's as far as birthing.
We jug our mothers right after giving birth and cleaning up (where ever the
mother chooses). They almost always are very willing to go to the barn with
their new babies for a few days of peace and quiet. There we administer the
four 'IPS'. SNIP (umbilical cord), DIP (cord into Iodine), STRIP (check the
udder), and SIP (make sure the lamb has that all important first drink).
After three days we take photos of the lambs with their mother for the
record, tag their ears (Scrapie program), dock their tails and return them
to the pasture. The most excited animal to see them return is our guard
llama who greets every new member of his family.
