[Jacob-list] Sheepskin prep

Arthur and Chris and all,
 
The many times I have dried out a sheep pelt for tanning (at the tannery, mind you :o)), I have used plain table salt----albeit the canning version without the added iodine----without ANY problems.  What is supposed to be the problem with using this salt?
