I just saw the following as part of a post on another list, referring to the
Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival:

>I fully agree with the spin-lister who commented on
>the long wool breeds and the method of showing them
>that is followed. Insane!. I don't show our sheep
>and don't care for what I see in some of the ones who
>do. many of the sheep are much larger then the breed
>should be. I saw this yrs lambs who were bigger then
>my adult sheep of the same breed. I saw some Jacob
>who were hornless and bigger then the Romneys...Who
>were almost as big as the Columbia s. This isn't
>isolated to just sheep tho.

It was my first trip to MSWF and I looked at all the Jacobs more than once. I
didn't see any hornless, oversized Jacobs. Maybe she was referring to the
Harlequins?? - they were big, hornless and spotted.
