[Jacob-list] Why a registry?

I consider a registration paper like a birth certificate. The animal deserves to have its history recorded. I would dearly love to have the history of a ewe I bought without papers. She is now registered so her legacy of lambs will at least be able to trace back to her. I consider registration for animals that are being kept to reproduce and preserve a breed sort of like a chore that really should get done. Don't get involved with politics and attitudes. Just get the paperwork done. mary

Subject: [Jacob-list] Why a registry?
As I often do, I can once again say: "Fred, I agree". One registry is important for rare breeds.
But until both current major associations stop competing--this will not happen until a merger--I will keep my money in my pocket.
Many people have correctly said the newsletters are informative. That is correct and I do miss my newsletter. I do not miss the attitudes, competitiveness, and the politics.
Thank al that is sacred that you do not need to be a member of an association to be on this list.
