Hi Mary,
How awful to hear of your high coyote losses. We have 4 guard llamas now.
We move them around as needed and occasionally put two together in our
larger, more vulnerable pastures. We've not found having two llamas together
to be a problem (once they get aquatinted). They still round the sheep up
when concerned and will run together toward anything they think is
threatening the sheep. Several llamas would definitely have a better chance
of winning against a pack of coyote than a lone llama would. It's also
important for the guard llama(s) to have 'guarding' instincts - not all of
them do.
