Mary M. & all,

Your local trapper must be skilled at setting snares. I do not know if lethal snares are legal in any states, but here in Oh. only non-lethal snares can be used. A deer-stop must be used so that a diameter of no less than 2 1/2" is possible. A deer should not be able to get its leg caught in the snare. If properly set, perhaps they will be effective.
We have only one llama on 40 acres with a woods. We were told if we had more than one, they would bond with one another and not the sheep. Is this true? These coyotes are definitely brazen. We have found remains of only two lambs, and did not suspect at first what was happening. We trusted the llama. I recorded that we docked over 60 lambs' tails this spring and decided to take a head count because it did not appear that we had 60 lambs. I was shocked to come up about 25 short!

                                                                              Mary Spahr
