Fred here.

We have treated broken horns with "spider webs". The web is a matrix and
contains protein. Our dirty barn provides the "absorbent" material. The
spider webs that are in the corners of the horse stalls often collect saw
dust from the pine shaving bedding. Grab a few of these webs and make a 4x4
inch "gauze type" bandage and just push it on the horn; clots the bleeding
and seems to be effective.
