[Jacob-list] Ram's horn lost

I usually try to clean up the blood from around the injury but try not to touch the stub because I believe this will just disturb the clotting process. I then blow antibiotic powder onto the injury and then forget it. On the ewes the horns usually grow back but in a blunted, sometimes stubby form. My very first sheep was Jake, a Jacob ram lamb that I bought from the Brown flock in Nova Scotia, broke off his lower horn and I didn't know what to do and there seemed to be blood everywhere so I called the vet for an emergency. He basically laughed at me and told me to quit worrying. His view was that sheep and cattle caste horns all the time and that problems are extremely rare.

  Dear list,
Today while giving shots and hoof trimming we had a 4-horn ram knock off one of his lower horns. Two questions: 1. What should we do for the hole in the side of his head ? (it bled and the horn came completely off and now has stopped bleeding) 2. Will the horn grow back ? We can see the bump at the base of where the horn used to be.Oh, he is about 2 mo. old
