Service standards <http://www.todayonline.com/articles/156299.asp> will not be raised just because the government says so, or a Singa lion singing and dancing on television. It will only be raised when poor service hits the bottomline.

What does that mean for the government? Simple. Hands off and let market force works its magic.

That means no regulations against tipping. No cartel should be allowed to charge "service charge." Reduce regulations on HDB shops, such as the types of goods and services shops can provide.

The lesser the government puts its hands in the market, the better the market will be. If there are less regulations to protect businesses, the businesses will have to compete on quality.
