Hi Guys, I had the same issue with my 98 500 SL. Grasp the mirror and pull downward and toward you, The mirror and stalk should pop off. It's held in place by a spring loaded plunger. Once the mirror is in your hand, be careful not to overly stress the wires leading to it. You'll see on the reverse side a bolt and locking nut attached to the mirror stalk. I tightened that slightly to firm up the mirror but retain some flexibility for adjustment. Good Luck.

BTW: Anyone interested in a 1988 300E cheap? My daughter bought a new car and her old 300E is sitting in the driveway. Contact me directly if you need a good driver that needs some care. Ziggor at AOL.com
