[R129 SL] New car

Gentlemen

I am presently considering buying an SL (Ipresently have an SEC) and was wondering if there is any particular model I should have a preference for and if there were any major changes to spec. that would make a certain year more preferable?.
Also I will be looking in the UK so are there any potential problems that need looking out for.
