Consoles are $1350 brand new here in California. I know because I was going to either replace mine or have it re-finished. Had it re-finished at Madera Concepts in Santa Barbara, CA, for $300. Looks better than new!

Great Videos! Thanks to the group for these.

Cheers,

That video is fantastic! Thanks a million. I gotta take my radio out; I had no idea it was so easy. I haven't seen that radio removal tool in my kit, though. Anyone know where to get one?

Meanwhile, a friend warned me about being careful while removing the wood piece. As you can see, it is bent or molded in the two places on each side and is pretty thin at those locations. It is apparently pretty easy to crack it there if not very careful...and, I'm sure it's an expensive piece to replace. So, take your time and coax it out slowly, more slowly than is shown in the video.

    Look at:

and click on the Mittelkonsole. It will take a moment or two to load but shows you how to get the centre console and other parts dismantled.

The top control switch on my 96 SL is low in the console and the fiber optic illumination of the shift lever position is out of alignment. I would like to fix this, but I do not know how to remove/replace the console trim - I mean the wood covered section. I know how to do that on my 300E, but I have no tech literature for the SL. Can anyone help me?
