[R129 SL] Oil Change help

I would like ot change my oil on my own. I noticed a plate on the underside 
of the engine which seems to cover the drain plug on my 1990 300SL.  What do I 
need to do to change my oil or do I just have to keep taking it in ? Any help 
is much appreciated. Becky
