Thanks for the observations Howard.  You are quite right about the "sealed" 
part.  But when we have to special order a dipstick for use on a $90+K 
automobile tranny my paranoia meter begins to peg.  I have always been a "do 
it yourself if you possible can" automobile fanatic and that is why I asked 
that MB dealer about changing the transmission oil and filter in the first 
place.  Now I think I will pursue the oil change matter further.
