You can easely take out the complete antennasystem en unscrew the
lowerpart from the black round housing.
The nylon strap lays in a guide, and you can pull it out. Screw it back
together and you can put the new mast inside. 
Give the command to lower the mast and the system "eats" the new nylon
strap and take in the mast.
If the plastic from the pipe is broken, you can get a new one.

The system is ordered in three parts:
Motor
Pipe
Antenna

Re 1997 R129

So the antenna mast broke on my car.  Two days and 30 minutes after
discussing with Jabba, I get my mast.

Upon removing the old mast, the plastic leader thingy on the old one is
broken.  iow I can't get all the old one out, and therefore I can't feed
the new one in.

Does anyone know whether I can remove the antenna base thingy and take
it apart to retrieve the remaining piece of the old plastic thingy,
thereby making the thing work again?

Or do I need a whole new electric antenna?
