[R129 SL] INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL

The removal tool(s) consist of two strong wires with a small right angled
‘hook’ at one end and wooden handles for pulling at the other. I borrowed
this tool from my local M-B dealer and reckon that all I need to make my own
are two ‘best quality’ stainless steel bicycle spokes with their nipples.
Then grind off the mushroom stop that is at the end with the right angle
(fits in the hub) and drill a couple of bits of dowel to put the threaded
end through, fixed with a washer and the nipple.

I have found that after inserting the bent ends, the points at which they
engage are at “ten to two” and not at a “quarter to three”. If the cluster
has not been out for some time, it takes much patience and wiggling to get
it out.
