I have just taken off the hard top of my 1990 500SL which I bought in
November 2003 as I now hope to start enjoying the summer.
My question is did Mercedes ever market or fit plastic stoppers to fill in
the location holes, apparent when the top is down, or are these deliberately
left open so that when the soft top is put up, there is not an embarrassing
moment as the hood tried to engage sockets with plastic bungs over them.
Any thoughts on this?
