[R129 SL] RE: R129LIST digest, Vol 1 #18 - 15 msgs

The Columbia disaster would have been a tragedy in any part of the world no
matter its country of origin. We should all be compassionate toward our
fellow man regardless of their nationality or race or creed or religion.
That said......
There was some discussion last week about 18" tires on an SL. I put 9x18
wheels on my car and I really like them but a few words of caution.
I just had to replace my 2 front strut mounts. One was broken and one was
cracked. My mechanic, who is Very Good, said the reason was my wheels and
especially the tires. My 18" tires are Low Profile which means there is
hardly any 'wall' on the tire. This 'wall' helps to cushion blows from pot
holes, speed bumps and the like. If you go with Low Profile tires you need
to be careful about speed bumps and such or you too will find yourself in
the shop.
Thanks,
Archie

Surely other tragedies and loss of human life, regardless of origin is a
bad thing. Obviously since I'm from the US, I mentioned the loss of
yesterday since it was a loss of our own crew and spacecraft. However,
at the same time, had you or anyone else mentioned or shared their
thoughts of other worldwide tragedies, I'm certain you would find many
members just as empathetic.

Anyhow, point taken. Thanks for your input.

Ok..

I.m so sorry for beeing so thougtless, of course it磗 a tragady, and a
bad thing.

However, this list has been quite calm and the main topic hasn磘 been up
to often latly, but ironicly when something happens in the US, the mails
start to poor in. I meen, nobody here cared about the floodings in
sothern europe last year who killed several pepole. or the avalanche in
Canada, 7 people died this morning. and so on....

The ting is, it happen tragedys every day around the world and all loss
af human lives are a dissaster every time it happens.
