Spanish and Italian made cars are so hard to cool simply because those guys
think they are "so cool">:)

I do not think it is air cooled. Diesels are, generally, not.
But, Diesel engines are hevier, bulkier and have huge radiators, so they
take a long time to heat... This will explain this. Take a look at the
thermostatic restrainer. Often, bad mechanics remove them, and this
prevent the engine to heat to it's running temp.
It's sound strange to me, as in Europe, German cars are really efficient
in heating the passengers, compared to Spanish or Italian made cars....
Maybe this is related to the climate the user experiment ;-) ?
