In case anyone is interested, I found on eBay the most
advanced 4x5 color enlarger Durst (or probably anyone
else) ever made. This was the last incarnation of the
L1200 chassis they developed before turning their attention
to the digital Lambda printers.

I have nothing to do with the seller. It's just *extremely*
rare to see one of these machines!!!! It's hard to even find
information about them...Durst only sold them to major
commercial color labs, mainly doing high volume production,
so they weren't really advertised to the public and were only
produced for a few years. It has an amazingly precise and
consistant closed-loop lightsource, with motorized autofocus
and auto-sizing linked to the exposure. I'm drooling. :-P

Probably the ZBE Sentinal was the only other enlarger to
match the Pictochrome's sophistication. These enlargers
are incredible machines if you're lucky enough to find one.
I have a Durst AC 1201 which was the forerunner of the
Pictochrome. It's my baby. :)

OK OK I need to stop surfing eBay and get back to work.
