For any interested, there is an on-line link about the photographer, Frank Hurly, and some images at http://main.wgbh.org/imax/shackleton/sirernest-two.html

I had forgotten that when they abandoned the Endurance Shacketon & Hurly smashed some 400 glass plates that they couldn't take with them. Shackelton was concerned Hurly would risk his life further to recover them. He had to go diving to recover the film, plates & motion pictures that he & shackelton selected from.
