Philip,

The Ebony cameras are, in a word, wonderful! Once you have used one just
about anything else in less, at least in 4x5 which is the limit of my Ebony
experience. Participants in the forthcoming f32 Spring Workshop will have
the opportunity to use two Ebony cameras, the RW45 and the RW45E so will
have hands on experience of the quality and versatility of the cameras.

There are independent adjustments for rise and tilt that would avoid the
problems you report from use of the Gandolfi. The Ebony cameras are also
one of the most rigid that I have used.

I use an Ebony RW45E and find it to be excellent. I have gradually been
changing a lot of frequently used lenses over to Technika/Wista boards so
that they can be used with the Ebony.

Most people who use the Ebony cameras with their special bellows are
instant converts. The cameras do a great job and allow you to get on with
taking the photo rather than fiddling with other cameras that have
standards waving around in the wind, dodgy clamping devices and trying to
get to the shutter controls in recessed lensboards!

I think you may be able to tell that I think Ebony cameras are worth the
money and they are not really that expensive compared to the competition.

Cheers,
            Clive
