Hmm -- hadn't thought of looking at the B&H site for things like hand-carts,
but I just had a look. Yeah, they're a tad expensive (to put it mildly),
but I had a most interesting discovery. On a whim, I went to the Ruxxac
site (www.ruxxac.com) and was startled to see that it's the site for the
"Faultless Starch/Bon Ami Company". What the heck?? For some very strange
reason, they are also the distributor for Ruxxac carts, which seems a pretty
odd corporate combination, but whatever...

The really interesting thing was that they seem to still make Bon Ami cake!
I thought this had utterly vanished, through lack of consumer demand, back
in the early '70s. For those too young to remember, this product was about
the only thing that would clean ferrotype plates without danger of
scratching. The demise of the product was much lamented in the photo mags
of the time.

Gee -- I don't think I've seen a real ferrotype plate in about 30 years...

Cheers,
