[LargeFormat] Pyro Tips Wanted

Clive,
Have you mixed the Pyro yet? If not Part A is the dangerous part..
Part B is just Metaborate. Wear a mask or mix it outside. Mix Part A and
Part B JUST before you are ready to process the film. Use this ratio
10:20:1000 10 of A 20 of B and 1000 of water (distilled is preferred IMO)
There has been some discussion on another list whether you need to RE soak
your negs after fixing in spent developer. Some say yes and some say no.
If you choose to soak for 2 minutes. You can use metaborate also. I am in
the spent pyro developer camp myself. This is supposed to help make the
stain deeper. YMMV. There will be increased stain as the film washes. The
color of the stain will vary some depending on what kind of film you use.
(green to brown) Ilford seems to me to have the best stain.
Wear gloves while developing the film. You can remove them while film
is in the wash. I would process 4 8x10's in 1 liter of chemistry. One last
thing, I use Edwal's LFN (several drops) in my PRESOAK tray. Keeps the film
from sticking together. (presoak is a hot topic also, I stand in the do it
camp) Other than that, It is pretty much just like processing film with any
other developer. If you have not read Gordon Hutchings book, The Book of
Pyro, you should get it and read it. It has good information in it.
