[LargeFormat] t-max developer d76

I have tried tmax in rodinal and was not impressed but d76 the negs are
almost grainless this is using roll film 120
I noticed a time of 12.5 minutes for dev times the kodak sheet that I have
is 6.5 minutes does the extra time give more density ? or is the 8x10 sheet
film different time?
I am happy with the negs at the 6.5 Min so I am curious as 12.5 seems a huge
time difference
the 5x4 tmax 100 negs I first developed had the occasional spot on them the
advise that I reviewed was  dust in the dbl darks
etc I consulted the archives and one posting recommended a pre wash
pretemper so I tried this presto no spots?
have I stumbled upon a solution for the dreaded spots.
