Daer Geo,

Take Dave Hornford's advice about the flourescents - my local Atkins
Carlysle electrical trade outlet is more confused about the tubes than I am.

My own experiments with what were euphemistically referred to as
standard tubes centered around a Fuji slide film and a Cokin FL filter.
Neither items have been resorted to since but the rolls that were done were
very close to a neutral colour. The very heavy magenta look of the FL filter
was a bit disconcerting at first but I focussed without and then clapped it
over the lens.

The appeal of this at the time was the cool nature of the light bank. I
was in a shed studio and the summer temperature in January was punishing -
it didn;'t need a boost from the lights. The other alternative for me was
Photax 3200 photofloods and it meant that most sittings were after dark.

Now I have an airconditioned stuio and I can waste film all day....
