My old South Bend lathe may not be able to hold the rather large 
diameter of the outer shutter assembly, however I can improvise.

When you say that you are using a lens spanner to remove the large 
bushing (spacer), do yours have the drilled holes in the top inner 
diameter - are you using these to insert your lens spanner? Are yours 
filled in before you start?

I probably can't afford the additional expense right now, but are you 
willing to sell one of your new Betax 5s?

All these questions and with a raging hangover.....
