Ok, so I dock above the hock. Still a long dock compared to the long wool sheep and what others sheep breeders do.

I left one long one year and I felt it was too long and she had more fleece on the tail than I cared for. I do remember reading somewhere that research (maybe) over the years has shown that docking really wasn't necc. and this wasn't referring to Jacobs, but other wool breeds. I do it really early though, when they are a couple of days old.

We have three ewes docked to nothing and I don't like that much either, although they have not had problems because of it. I'm pretty sure my 2012 lambs are all double coated too, except for maybe one of the twins with dorper in him. I have seen occasional single coated crosses to Jacobs though.
