Just a quick reminder to those of you bringing adult rams or ram lambs over 6 months, you will need a negative B.Ovis test to enter and or sell animals in the State of Colorado. Most of us here in Colorado and the western states have B. Ovis Flock Certification, and are exempt from having the test done. The test needs to be done withon 30 days prior to transport. Rams under 6 months are exempt.( it is an inexpensive test, I pay less than $10 per animal for the test itself)

The Law says you need: Health papers, Scrapie Tags, and B. Ovis on rams.

Here is the entry requirements:

Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI)issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry into Colorado with all official animal identification numbers listed on the CVI unless sheep being shipped directly to a federally inspected slaughter establishment or consigned to a livestock market.

Scrapie eartag required for Animal Identification unless feeder lambs less than 18 months of age consigned to a federally inspected slaughter establishment, otherwise in the slaughter channel or consigned to a livestock market.
Scrapie Tagging Protocol

Scrapie Tagging Protocol

Scrapie Statement on CVI "The sheep listed on this certificate originate from a herd in which Scrapie has not been diagnosed within the last five years. The herd of origin has not been identified as a trace or source herd or flock of sheep in the last five years. At no time have these animals been on a premises at which Scrapie has been diagnosed within the last five years."

Negative Brucella ovis (B Ovis) ELISA test for Rams 6 months and older within 30 days unless they are rams from a Brucella ovis Free Flock accompanied by the certificate number and date of last test. Animals must be identified with an individually unique ear tag prior to entry into Colorado. Official Brucellosis test result charts shall be attached to the CVI with the date of test, uniqure ear tag numbers, test results and name of the approved laboratory.
