A good way to trim ram's horns is to use an obstetric saw--that is a wire between two pins, available at most feed or vet supply places. It effectively cuts the horn and because it gets hot in the process, it actually seals the cut. We've used it for years and it works !!

Subject: [Jacob-list] request info on trimming ram horns

I’ve lingered out here in cyberspace on this list formany years. I read it daily and have appreciated all the information provided bythe contributors to the list. I now find that I need some guidance as to how toproperly trim one of my Four horned rams hornset. One of Eddi’sbottom horns is magnificently formed into an outward and down circularformation and now that he is 4 years old it is just beginning to rub on hisbody when he assumes certain postures. I think I better trim it toprevent some kind of injury to him. Any ideas as to how to do this whilemaintaining some semblance of its great look? Do I just cut them back?
Thanks
