I told my friend about the problems with Stern Tanning. I didn't send any
emails or forward anyone's name or email address. This is her response:
> I can understand that this person is upset. Fires do happen, and unless
>someone is an arsonist, I do not feel that Jeff
> Stern is to blame here. He has been trying very hard for all this time
to
> get up and running again. After all, he has no income if he is not in
> business. And, with everything burned, who knows what happened to these
> records of receipts? I was fortunate to get all mine processed and
returned
> before the fire. I have been in contact with him about monthly as to the
> progress of his starting up again. If anyone is to blame, it is the
#^*@+%
> environmentalists who put so many barriers up for starting up new
businesses
> again. He has been having to jump through all the hoops to appease all
the
> requirements and legislation that he has been presented with. One permit
> after another. Plus, getting insurance payouts for losses is no fast
feat.
> I personally admire him for putting up with all the crap of getting
started
> up again. I know if it were me, I wouldn't do it. He is very committed
to
> his vocation.

> Having had sheepskins processed by other tanneries, I will be patient and
> wait for him to mine again. I have sent in 26 or 27 skins so far and I
am
> sure I will get them all back as he gets rolling again. Perhaps these
> people should look into sending them to San Francisco, which go to Asia
> somewhere, and it takes a YEAR TO BE RETURNED at a much higher price. I
> know it hurts to lose a special skin that you have personally raised and
> were looking forward to having tanned and enjoying it. There are kits
that
> people can do this deed themselves, so maybe this person should look into
> that.

>You have waited for a long time for the skins you sent somewhere. I have
>had many requests at Market for sheepskins and the bottom line of not
having
>any to sell has hurt me badly to the tune of about $2,000 this year at
>Market. But, this is not Jeff's fault. People need to be patient and try
>to be understanding.
>
>The bottom line is: I will send to Jeff Stern again and again. End of
>tale.
