[Jacob-list] vaccinations

I tend to figure that if we've had no issues in ten years we're not likely to start now. I actually don't know of any sheep farmers locally who vaccinate. We're pretty primitive up here.

Hi,

I understand the idea for no chemical dewormers or antibiotics, but vaccinations are to prevent the need for antibiotics and should not contain significant amounts of contaminates. In most areas of the country, there is a significant threat from the Clostridias. The symptoms you will see are dead sheep.

In our area, not worming and maintaining healthy sheep requires rigorous attention to pasture rotation with sheep grazed for less than a week and then removed from each lot for 2 months. (Hay may be harvested from the intervening growth.)

Hi, resident list maverick here:) We don't vaccinate or use any chemical dewormers because we sell some of our culls as "beyond organic" for people with special dietary sensitivity.
