Leigh, I'm very sorry to hear about your ewe. I agree with Carl that we never feed on the ground. Sheep fed on the ground may pick up feces, urine and worms as well as disease from bird and squirrel droppings. We feed off the ground always. We also feed a free choice granulated salt and mineral mix which contains Selenium 90ppm for our area. Make sure it's kept dry and clean (I find they won't touch it if it's contaminated at all). And similar to Victoria we feed a free choice Organic sea kelp that adds micro-nutrients and minerals to their diet, they eat it as they need it only. With the symptoms of a stiff back end and labored breathing I would have called the vet right away. Those to me are signs of a serious health condition and I would not have wanted to wait very long for a recovery. I'm not very good at diagnosing so I rely on my vet both by phone or a visit as necessary. I hope this helps some, take care.........Mary
