[Jacob-list] registration-favor it

I register all the ewes that I am fairly sure will pass - I had one failed (AC) in 2005 that won Breed CH at the Richland Co fair as a LAMB over two registered adults because of her fine fleece and nice hornset, so I do not think the process is perfect-but it is the best we have. This year a ram was failed because a 5th tiny horn is fused to the top one but the rt lateral on that side is not fused - judge did not see it that way and the person I got the ram from does not think he is 'fused' either. However, I will still continue to register all stock I will use for breeding.

I did get 3 Jacob lambs Dennis could not breed as he has their sire in trade for 3 he could breed to his ram. He may get his originals back in another trade after he gets a new ram - he doesn't routinely register (has 4 registered ewes from me and Mary Spahr and a registered ram but mostly does fiber and locker lamb). One of those three just had a F1 ram lamb last week as Dennis did not move the dam in time. Two of the three ewews could be registered, but one is TOO LIGHT and the other did not get her tail docked - so those will stay here until another trade or someone shows up that really wants THAT one.

I plan to register the Navajos I got from Stacks as soon as I can get pictures (outside) and fleece samples. I am less certain that they (sheep)will pass as I do not have any experience looking for the right traits yet.
I plan to show both Jacobs and Navajos at the 4 fairs I go to even tho I will be competing against myself (may get brother to submit new group and show them) because I am more interested in promoting the sheep to new breeders than in 'winning' - I 'win' when we get more people working on preserving these breeds.

I will get off the soapbox now.
