[Jacob-list] I agree with Sue's daughter

Frankly, I think if you are not in the far west or in the east it is
difficult to find registered Jacobs (or Navajos). I would prefer to buy
only registered Jacobs and Navajos, but in Texas I have to drive to Arkansas
or Missouri, at closest, to get them. Perhaps some day this will not be the
problem it is for us in the lower middle of the country, but it is now. In
the meantime, I plan to have registered and unregistered, and offer them
both. Maybe someday I will have six breeders within an easy drive of me to
transact with, but that is not the case now.

As to the tone and tenor of the items on the list, I chalk most of that up
to you folks feeling passionate about what you do. I do think that for some
reason there is a bit of suspicion as to new folks who are not part of the
club (I experienced that first hand). If you (and ultimately "we") truly
want to grow the breed, with that we will all ultimately be smaller fish in
a bigger pond than perhaps has been the case for you in the past. That will
mean those of you who were here early and often will have succeeded.

Beverly and I remain in the market for sheep, as we try to build our herd.
We will continue to prefer registered over registered. If any of you are
reasonably close or coming this way contact me. Thanks.

I confess to being abit of a 'registration snob' - not because I think my
sheep are better than unregistered sheep, but because I think it's important
to have records. Not only to chronicle the bloodlines, but to isolate
traits that we either want to preserve or eliminate. Registration does not
make sheep better, but does indicate that not only the breeder but also the
breed inspectors feel the sheep exhibits purebred traits. Did you by any
chance request feedback on your ram? One thing you'll get on this list is
honest opinions. Registration would nothing to do with whether or not
someone liked your ram. There are certainly some registered sheep that I
don't care for.

I could very well be one of the people who offended you. If so, please
accept my apologies and do post more.
