[Jacob-list] ear injury

I am distraught, my Lilly has been injured.  It seems that our Border
Collie Has attacked and bitten off most of the bottom side of her ear.
 It was dark out when i realized she was hurt, so DH grabbed her, I
rinsed her ear with warm water, and smeared SWAT on her ear, I figured
it would be better than nothing until I could get some supplies
tomorrow and ask your advice.  I am not sure if she was some ear still
hanging or if it has been totally bitten off.
I assume I should give her some penicillin, what is the best topical
treatment, and if there is some ear hanging should I remove it or let
it be.  Also, should she be contained or let to roam the 1/4 acre
paddock.  She is out for tonight, as I figured that it would be
better, but I might be wrong.
I think the dog has to go, even if he is trained further, I don't
think I can trust him again.
I appreciate any advise.
