Hi All
I have just returned home from 2 1/2 days happily spent as a
first-time volunteer at the JSBA booth at MD Sheep and wool. It was
SO much fun spending time getting to know Wendy C, Ruth R, and
Elizabeth and spending more time with Royal and Sue U. I didn't spend
too much time at the sheep shows but talked to many of the exhibitors.
I met Marie R in person, saw Lia B a bit, and Peggy V and her
daughter. Stopped by the JSC booth a couple of times to say hi to
Kelly and Alex and Sam. There were several folks I didn't get a
chance to talk to though.....

Haven't heard any official numbers but boy were there lots of people
until about 2 on Saturday when weather cooled. In many vendor booths
it was impossible to get inside to see things closely. Things were
definitely hopping in our booth. I talked to many people about Jacobs
and had the impression that some might be seriously considering
starting their own flock. Sunday was definitely chilly but still
plenty of people but not the insane numbers as on Saturday.

I dropped by the Zeilinger booth; they told me last year they set a
record 7000 lbs of wool total taken back to MI. I can't wait to get
my roving back from them this summer.

Best of luck to those of you with upcoming shows. Every year is
probably different for what is hot. From the longest lines at the
booths selling sock yarn, that was clearly a number one item this
year. Jacob pelts and roving seemed to do really well too. Plenty
of new spinners buying wheels too.

I can't wait to get more Jacob things together to bring for next
year!!! This is my second year as a member of a Jacob breeders
association, as well as being a breeder myself. It was so wonderful
to see other people's sheep and talk Jacob....
