In the Shetland islands, which are off the northern tip of Britain and tend to be wet and windy, you will sometimes see aged ewes wearing someones cast off sweater, beautifully knitted in the intricate local multicolour patterns.  The ewes appear to be very comfortable in them, though one hopes they don't felt badly in the rain and become too tight ! I wonder what effect it has on the fleece below ?
